If that’s really what happened, it absolutely blows my mind she called the FAA. Had something very similar happen to me jumpseating home on an RJ. Captain got distracted/busy, FO (on OE) got slow. I said “watch your airspeed,” they fixed it, and 2 minutes later I had pretty much forgotten about it. The idea to call the FAA (or anyone for that matter) about something like that seems so ridiculous to me that I have to believe there’s more to this particular case. If there isn’t, then I don’t know what to say. It was nothing more than a simple error that got trapped, and still had at least a couple more levels of redundancy to go before they fell out of the sky.
