A FO strictly telling a Captain to deny a jumpseat to a individual due to be being uncomfortable isn't going to fly....

I'm not comfortable with this approach, please go around. Well I’m comfortable, what’s your reason?

I’m my mind, either you are a crew or not.

Simplistic, but if my FO says no that’s good enough. I may ask why or not, doesn’t really matter.

I am talking about the Captain's Jumpseat, not calling go around on approach here... One situation gives you time to have discussion on the reason why and why not and come up with a amicable solution. The other situation you brought up isn't the time and place for a discussion, you go around. Once you have the aircraft in safe state, you can have the discussion...

but cool, you are the Captain, are you going to deny the jumpseat everytime your FO just say "Hey Captain, you need to deny that person jumpseat because I am uncomfortable with them."

That's handing control and authority over to the lowest common denominator.

FO years ago wasn't happy going above FL290. Another did not like going within 2000' of OPT ALT. Not above OPT ALT but 2000' below. Another FO didn't trust FMC's or LNAV. Wanted to do a 767 transcon using VOR navigation (manually tuned), heading select and using High Altitude Enroute charts. They were uncomfortable with the every day operations, and SOP's, that almost everyone flew.Valid observations or inputs? Sure. Several standard deviations outside of the normal circle of love? Nah, their nutty concerns weren't my problems.

Cool…you’re the captain with the big boy pants. What is justifiable to them may be not be to you, but hey, discuss it in length after the jumpseater has asked for a ride. I’m sure that won’t make an uncomfortable cockpit.

Hope your FO doesn’t check out since they don’t think you value their opinion.

How the hell;

1) were they hired

2) STAY employed?

Nobody ever go to pro-stans on these types?

Guess I don’t look at my FOs as the lowest common denominator. I didn’t think of myself that way as a FE or FO, but your coworkers are probably glad to know what you think of them.

That would up for discussion like I mentioned earlier… A good crew will discuss the matter, a good captain will listen and the into serious concerns of their FO and determine what the best and safe decision…But a good Captain is not going to blindly hand over blind full decision making authority either to the FO.

There one thing certain with conflict resolution, the conflict gets resolved in some kind of matter before the doors are shut, checklist is ran, and parking brake released.
