I think the company has more than enough data on what they need to get a pilot from 1500 hours to be competent in the right seat and the brightwork in the back.
If they kick all the bright work in the back to the line captains after signing them off after a bunch of landings in the broken birds, then the data is flawed whether the pilots have 1500 hours or 10000 hours. I don't believe it has happened, but I won't be surprised if it does. I'm hoping the union putting up a stink is enough for the company to do the right thing. I certainly don't trust management to do the right thing without being pushed into it.
