Sell your house with an older, low interest mortgage for something to move out East? What dollar value do you place on "living in base"? (Especially if you can do it as both FO and CA)? Yeah, I'm reluctant to go to Gojet with it being a 2 leg commute to STL or ORD (unless they ever get DEN like my interviewer said they were trying to, not gonna count on that). But would I spend $80,000 to take 2 hours off my commute? Or to get out of the 135 world 3 months sooner? Not at this point. I don't like charter but it hasn't made me that jaded yet. Luckily I'm not a cfi desperately trying to get my foot in the door.

My buddy doing his CTP at ATPJets in Dallas said the entire rest of his class is Skywest. Apparently they were the last class before the contract went out. Not an hour of turbine experience between the 15 or so of them. Guys like that are running out of options and they don't want to risk their cert at a crappy cargo feeder or clean a lav on a beechjet in the August heat. So they'll sign, because they're short sighted and desperate and seemingly have no other choice.

How many 18 year olds take out student loans for that much knowing they'll be in debt for a decade or more? How many think more than 5 seconds before signing? Skywest has them by the balls and is playing on their fear and uncertainty.
