Question regarding Extended Duty Pay and short call:

If assigned a trip near the end of a short call period, the FARs consider duty to have begun at the start of the short call availability. Would the same be true for extended duty pay? Me thinks the answer is NO,
but I've tried finding a reference without any luck.
