I called in fatigued on a reserve assignment that was supposed to leave at 10pm for 10hr flight to EZE. They ended up pushing the flight back that afternoon to a 530am departure. Before these trips the night before I stay up late and sleep in late to kind of push my body clock back. I was up all night trying to sleep until 3am when I called fatigued. I was still charged with a deduction to my sick bank because of their stupid a$# policy of just completely changing departure times for these long haul flights and keeping the original crews on it.
If I would have just called in sick I would have gotten the same pay but wouldn't have had to fill out paperwork.
If you had reported at the original time would you have even been legal to sit around and wait for a 5 AM departure? If the report time was changed and you were in rest prior to report, did you acknowledge the change? I just wonder if reporting for duty on time, fit for an on time departure, and then being fatigued with the delay (again, if you were evel legal) would not have come out of your sick bank?
