This is the same old crap that happened last contract (company dragging there feet not doing anything). We will probably not see something until about a year out from the legacies opening again for negotiations. We have for now lost our leverage of everyone hiring like they were. If they were hiring I believe we’d be much farther along. Because with the day turn model people are fed up with it and would leave if they had the opportunity. Now that goes to say not everyone is fed up but a lot are. Not to mention with all these base openings and the grand shuffle to those bases our QOL has been destroyed from what it once was. Take away the one okish thing we had with QOL and throw in day turns people would jet out the door. But since hiring has stopped we are apart of this company experiment, lost leverage and are sitting ducks for a new CBA.
The reality on the line is that for every person who b*tches incessantly about day turns and how they are the devil, there’s another person who lives in base and has decided to stick it out here because it’s hard to beat sleeping in your own bed every night.
But yeah, we seem to be in some sort of a gray area between a pilot-friendly cycle and the opposite. How far along we are into that spectrum, time will tell. One thing is for sure - it ain’t 2022.
