What a shame (for you). A lot of people, myself included, feel that there is something magical about climbing onboard a fire-breathing miracle of human ingenuity, and disembarking in a whole other place. I felt it the first time that I sat in a TWA 707 going from LAX to JFK, and I still feel it today. Without sacrifice there can be no rewards, so my advice to those new to this business is to take some time to get to know your passengers, not only because that is the best way to "keep uppermost in (your) mind the safety, comfort, and well-being of the passengers who entrust their lives to (you)," (your ALPA code) but also because it's way more fun.
p.s. I was able to schedule a uniform appointment on a work day, but to be honest it was a waste of time, if I had of just ordered the same sizes it would have been fine.
