I stopped stepping over pax a couple years ago… now they are briefed that we cycle out of the seat multiple times during the trip and we won’t step over them (will wake them) for our/their safety and personal space issues… if that’s an issue they need to speak with the gate agent immediately.

As bad as USAir and AA was, we never had to share the seat. We got both seats. No curtain. No privacy. But both seats.
Does it still count as a Class III rest area?
