Based on my reading of the PWA and SRH it looks like APDs are processed first and then P/Ds. Is there some work around to use the P/D first and if that doesn't drop the trip use the APD? Or is the only way to do that to wait until the next PCS run and change it to an APD?

If the grid is blue try the PD. If that doesn't work, then APD the second run. I have never not gotten an APD on run 2. Don't wait until days later though. Reading your further reply, and holiday periods are different. There's too much competition. Use the most powerful tool first. IVD or APD (but use them all, it can't hurt and may not help either, but why not?)
