I think the logic is this:
one day prior, you’re assigned short cal. You notify the company right then you are NC per the PWA.
On the day of your short call, you look at your schedule at short call start time. If there is a trip, it’s in 2 hours. If there is no trip, you call them and say you’re now contactable. So you’re never on a short leash per the provision.
This is correct and just checking your schedule in icrew at the start of SC makes you contactable again. You can also call, which I do or send a message via crew assist. This was discussed here previously and I assumed the understanding was known but just in case...
SC assigned - call CS and inform NC first 2 hours
SC starts - check schedule/call CS and inform now contactable
trip assigned - 2ish hours meeting the undefined "promptly available"
