The rest is automatic due to the next short call assigned eventhough it coincides with the end of your current SC. This is the logic behind the 6 hour SC. You are going to get 18 hours free from duty per the PWA which is rest prior to the next SC. The timing works to keep you on the same SC start time every 24 hours.
