Also, be leery of management saying "You give us some money (i.e. concessions) and we can then get new airplanes, etc." ATA did this - they told the pilot group that if they gave up some pay, it would show Boeing and other creditors that everyone was on board, and that would guarantee the arrival of many brand-new 717's. Management got their money, pilots got nothing, and eventually got furloughed. I agree with captainkudzu, there is no mention of furloughs in that letter you posted. It is your typical letter from management trying to circumvent your MEC, and negotiate with the pilots directly. I've seen it before.

And, captainkudzu was correct as well in saying that it was irresponsible of you to spout off the "furlough" word. It DOES scare junior pilots, and it is very disconcerting. Let the company do that.
