That usually results in ten and change to 11 hour layover but it’s still short. This time I wasn’t able to get ahold of anyone since so many folks were calling in. My point of having an app based software is this could allow a lot of would be calls to be cleaned up and create some efficiencies. Downline it would probably be a huge benefit to other crews too, lotta ways to work around this. As for reroutes I’ve had 3 post new contract but I do my best to stay from work as much as possible. I’d imagine most folks aren’t getting rerouted enough to make a meaningful amount of money but that’s a number that everyone sees differently. Forums are where the vocal minority hang out so your results may vary.
As was said earlier, the new RR rules were put in place to specifically drive down the number of reroutes. I’d be curious if anyone at ALPA has hard data, but anecdotally it seems that at a minimum the company has cut down on the very ridiculous ones where they are trying to save a minute or two of delay. I’d guess that total reroutes are down across the board since the new PWA. And now when you do get rerouted you get at least some extra money.

As to comms, I agree that we need a more robust system in order for us to reach scheduling. Other than the fact that there aren’t enough of them, it’s really not hard for them to reach us if they need to. But not being able to reach anyone when we’re out on the line is an embarrassment for a company of this size and with this much profit. Even just being able to text scheduling telling them when we will be reporting at the airport after a layover would be very helpful. But even the most robust system in the world won’t help when there aren’t enough people on the other end to respond.
