The BRS is pretty new, but at the time it was rolled out, there was an 'opt-in' option for folks that had joined earlier under High-3.

So there ended up being a sizable overlap between the two systems.
Yeah I remember that part, I was still in. We did the mando brief which included the opt-in and then somebody junior turned to me (boss): "what would you recommend sir"?
Keeping in mind that leadership had been directed to remain agnostic about opt-in... "What do you think I'd recommend?"
That seemed answered the question to everyone's satisfaction.
But if you weren't about 100% about doing the full 20 it absolutely made sense. I think in that unit everybody was pretty much 15+.
