I’ve read the ALPA comms on it, but I’m drawing a blank as to what benefit it serves. You can bid 6 SCs in a row, but then get a 6 day trip that just wipes them out right? Then you’re back to square one and have to get 6 SCs up the behind like everyone else. Am I missing something?
What’s the upside?
It appears to be functionally useless. I haven’t scoured every category’s bid packet, but it seems company for the most part only published SC periods that 1) most people won’t want and 2) are so early in the day that they can’t be otherwise assigned during the 1100 next day SC processing because they start less than 18 hours after 1100. So it looks like the company is just trying to get pilots to help scheduling cover uncoverable periods in advance.
