Is that correct? no idea how the math works out on that. Any ideas? Thanks.
Velvet is similar to CQ or VAC in that it reduces your days of availability and thus your personal reserve guarantee, and it does not then pay a straight 5:00/day on top of the category RES guarantee. 77:12 is correct per the john bell pay calculator. Velvet does not go against your LC days though, so in order for the calculator to give you your accurate X day/LC day count you need to put the 2 days @ 5:00/day in one of the "Other (hmm for daily credit)" lines. 2 days of CQ adds roughly 5:00 to your pay for the month during reserve, and 2 days of Velvet does exactly the same.
Bonus: Velvet is just like training in that it is not rest, it is not a non-fly day, and you are completely not contactable during the footprint. Thus if you have LC immediately following Velvet you cannot be made to report before 1800 on that day, and scheduling must contact you after midnight when you resume LC to notify you.
