The summer is 2-4% growth overall VS last summer so that includes regional. CLT is supposed to be a few less flights per day since last summer was a disaster. It is possible most of that growth is regional in ORD and PHL/LGA. In any case more pilots have retired than they've hired since the pause and more will retire during this new pause. So expect meltdowns, premium, reassignments. New airplanes keep arriving and new routes have been announced so it isn't all regional.
Don't forget that the Union also negotiated a contract that allows the company to cram more flying down on the same number of pilots, increasing their efficiency at the cost of pilots who will not see that reflected in their paycheck (i.e. more efficient use of reserves means they are using more of that monthly min effectively). This is also part of the reason we saw hiring numbers drop from initial projections the last two years. It is not all because of aIrCrAfT dElIvErIeS. So not only did it negatively impact pilots on property, it kept some potential new pilots off property. We took a big L on this and it is amazing how many people here are blind to this.
