I don't have any special insight, but the last new hire class drop only had one ORD 320 FO slot and the FO/CA imbalance in the status seems to have been rectified for June's bids. It's going to be a junior-ish status at least until they work through the 737 -> 320 FO withholds, but I don't think you'll be getting it day one unless you're an older guy or girl and there happens to be a vacancy or three pop up - which does often happen right before a vacancy bid. That's more of an accident of timing than anything, though.
If I could do it over, I would have bid 737. It was probably fine to bid 320 when the classes were steady the last few years up until last summer, but now that the classes are more intermittent, 737 new hires definitely have a better QOL in most bases. I have been waiting a year for DFW, could have got it right out of training in the 737. Whenever I compare my schedule to 737 classmates or even junior pilots, it's always a gut punch. Another factor is more senior 737 guys bidding over to the 320 slowing progression even more.
