All those amenities are worth less when you are flying 3 legs per day 17 days per month while your 737 friend from orientation is flying 1 per day 15 days per month for the same pay.

Now that the airline has figured out how to optimize the trips into unbearable garbage it takes quite a bit of seniority to get the few decent ones that slip though the cracks.
