I liked the way someone put it that play stupid games win long term stupid prizes. Delta is building a culture among the group hired since 2015 and definitely since 2022. The constant pettiness and word salad excuses are going to have long term consequences. Heard a rumor that there has been a noticeable drop in working extra particularly among pilots hired since the pandemic.
I’ve watched the attitude change towards the CPO since I’ve been here. It’ll be interesting to watch.
I fly the contract. No more. No less.
I'm promptly available to the closest airport (ny based) when on Short Call but I'm not airport standby. They want VAS, they can pay for it.
I am always less than 2 ish hours in normal traffic to EWR. If they call during rush hour to JFK, I will finish my meal, hop in the shower, adjust my standard load out based on length and destination, then get in my truck and drive the speed limit to JFK or LGA if they don't send me to EWR. I'm not gonna start a new set in the gym, but I'm not going to pack so fast I'm in Calgary with no pants and no coat.
I rarely extend. FDP limits are there for a reason. And I know if I clip wings taxing in after a 16 hour day there will be no slack given by company. "He said he was ok" and let the FAA rake me over the coals.
I don't Leeeeroy Jeeeeenkiiins my wat through a nasty front to save them $500 in gas. Nor do I rush to protect the all holy D-0 metric.
I do make the walk.
