GU asked for release to slow the process down. Look at what he’s done since he’s been here. First mediation they TA’d 3 sections I believe. He fired the hired negotiator.. Nothing for months. The previous mediation they have 2 TA’d sections… not he files for release to slow the process down. He doesn’t want us to have a contract until he’s ready to use it for his personal gain.

Asking to get released doesn't delay or pause negotiations. Regardless of the outcome it often does exactly the opposite. We saw this with Southwest in 2023, their request was denied and they had a TA shortly thereafter. I'm not saying we'll do the same but we haven't stopped or slowed negotiations just because we requested a release. There are no negatives to ask. The only move from here is to continue to stay within the narrow RLA mediation lane. If denied continue mediation, reach a TA or get released later.
It does pause and delay in our case because our union is refusing to negotiate further until the proffer is accepted or rejected, and then they’ll come to the table and waste more time.
