This is why Amazon adopted the regional airline model instead of the FedEx/UPS model. ATI is one provider in the Amazon portfolio. If ATI wants to get more money out of Amazon, Amazon will just move the flying to another provider and the race to the bottom continues. Unfortunately, the folks at ATI are in a tough spot with the whole whipsaw-regional model. But this raises an important point.
One issue that’s often taken a backseat in these discussions is: scope, codesharing, and now the two-pilot flight deck. These are critical concerns that deserve just as much focus as pay and work rules.
Contract language on these topics is key to securing our long-term job security.
