What he's advocating for is on par with punishing the entire group for a few sick leave abusers. To think people are hanging on to reserve jobs so they can manipulate their Delta schedule via MLOA is asinine. It screams of bitterness.
Reserve/guard work more days a month for less pay. I know my take home increased drastically after I retired (don't have that pension yet either). I have more free days to pick up those GS and now SS (which didn't even exist before I retired). Nothing like sitting at drill watching all those GS go out and back on Monday when there's silence. But that was the gig.
Thee positive impacts of military service on staffing and premium pay are largely ignored or countered with one off examples. Even if there was a green slip on monday, would you really want to give up your only 5 days off for the entire month?
