Until we find a retirement solution to switch to that makes everyone happy instead of one that incentivizes single issue voting decisions to switch to we will always be divided. Can be as simple as just tying automatic raises to the pension. Or making pension raises retroactive back to amenable date. Both would eliminate the incentive to vote based on a single issue.
