Just an FYI, I've been based in all 3 x FDAs (back when FDX actually had FDAs). Forgot my tie plenty of times. Not once was I, or anyone else, ever denied entry/exit to/from a country because they didn't have their tie on. You're really overthinking what the person behind the plastic shielding thinks about your uniform here. We show up in winter in ICN/PVG/CGN/CDG/Etc with 3-4 different windbreakers on. And then theres the Virgin America pilot uniforms from back then.

Maybe you'll have an incident where the Aussies don't take your sunscreen from you, the French don't take your can of Monster, depending on if you have the clip-on tie on.... maybe not, but more than likely not

The choice to wear one is officially your choice now, the company put out an FCIF about it. Not suggesting anyone wear or not wear the tie either way, you like how you look with the tie on. You want your shirt collar to last longer before turning yellow in SE Asia in summer. You wear the clip-on and don't like doing the top button on your shirt collar. Is omitting a 15 dollar polyester piece of the uniform going to wake up the company into paying us what UAL/DAL make now? Probably not. Is it more comfortable and one less thing to pack, I think so.

But worrying about making it from the hotel and to the plane or from the plane and to the hotel....because you're out of the US and decided not to wear it isn't an actual concern.
