We lost because ALPA changed what the argument was over between the initial grievance and the appeal to the 5-member board. This was a case of semantics and to be honest, a failure on ALPA's part.

One more major issue -- the arbitrator straight up was like "you're contract is entirely too complex".

Ironically, the new RR rules in terms of pay, I thought were to make it way simpler. It has had the opposite effect. The company is now simply throwing their hands up knowing full well ALPA is understaffed to track it all in a timely fashion.

Perhaps ripping into Gumm and personally insulting him at the last MEC meeting wasn't a good move in terms of enamoring him with being more open to help smooth these issues out(whether it was warranted or not).

All I know is that the issues between the company and ALPA are getting uglier by the day and it isn't getting fixed anytime soon. Best of luck to us all.
2 words - pay rates. As in baseline hourly rates.

I warned you guys about all the layers and complexity of the contract in regard to our soft pay provisions and reserve. It's pretty much turned out exactly as I predicted.

Grievances, we win some we lose some. This should have been an easy win for us, but here we are. My faith in DALPA continues to wane. The wage theft has got to end.
