The pre-release schedule check, the way it's worded in the PWA, does seem a bit ambiguous on this.
It's clearly intended to determine "what, if any, assignment has been placed on their schedule for the period following their release."
"Period following their release" sure seems to suggest something short-term (as in same day/next day/second day), but as we know, words can be twisted. Technically, is a next-month assignment considered "period following their release"?
Also, it allows for "an assignment of a rest period beginning as early as their release time." Well, again, something next month is not any earlier than release time.
So my answer would be that I don't think it's notification (and I don't think it should be), but I'm not 100% sure without official guidance.
