Why wouldn’t we leave the auto acknowledge function in the QS template? If I want a QS trip, I build the parameters I’m willing to accept. If I don’t want to be woken up for trips not awarded and am happy with my parameters, I select auto acknowledge. If I want to vet each trip before throwing my name in the ring, I don’t auto acknowledge, wait for phone calls, vet the trip and acknowledge if I want it.
Either way, the way I read the function is if trip goes QS and I acknowledge it, I’m added to the pool. If, after the 12 minute window, I'm the senior pilot, the trip is mine and I’m obligated to fly it.
Auto Ack seems like it would work fine for this and avoid unnecessary phone calls.
We’ll likely only see QS used within 8 hours of report (when 23M7 becomes available to the company). Even today, auto ack doesn’t work within 12 hours of report.
