They’ll hoard open time just to throw it on the trade board, snatch up terrible premium offerings in a millisecond. All with a disregard of their fellow pilots. It’s a “me me me” mentality that rubs folks the wrong way. Humility and integrity go a long way.
Couple that with the large number of “qualified” pilots that still can’t land the plane and it’s no wonder captains feel a certain way.
Yeah I had one ****ed at the union for not being able to pickup after 930 day prior. Another on the phone with crew scheduling trying for a bubba deal add to the end of a sequence we were on day of. Shockingly he was denied or I was going to file a dispute. I tried to explain, in a respectful way, why bubba deals, free for all hurts the entire group and got a gen z stare.
I get it it’s your first airline, there’s a learning curve, but when you want to disregard common sense and contractual language good riddance. You’re a legacy problem now.
