Even they are wrong and we hate them, the GFB and letters are very effective for mgmt. They definitely make a lot of pilots think twice about calling in sick above the 50 hr GFB trigger even if they are sick. The letters will probably be even more effective for mgmt. As a pilot, I say ignore them and if you are sick do NOT fly.
They do? It takes 5 minutes to tell a telehealth doctor that I’m sick. Then I have to be
extra careful to ensure that I’m 100% well before calling in well.
Getting a letter like this in the mail is just a trophy. It’s also a source of entertainment for my UA and AA friends, who have never seen anything like this.
