Overly harsh. Not defending, but I'll simply repeat that Sailing comes from a different era. He and the rest on his email chain all come from the same point of view, and the few youtes beholden to their way simply because they are enamored by it.

Delta from his era depended on the "bro code", as the kids call it these days. I've heard all the phrases from cappys in his group: "git-er-done", "don't be a slacker", "we don't file grievances", "move to base", "don't rock the boat", "pull your weight", "so-n-so in flight ops is a 'good dude'", "didja get a greenie?", "don't care 'bout that, what's the pay rate?", "food? grab something out of the basket!".

Every single thing at this company that is messed up is because of that line of thinking. IT, scheduling, training, crew meals, dead heading....don't complain, put your head down, and "git-er-done". Look how much effort in the last contract that had to be done to unwind that way of thinking.

Honestly, a career of these people was exhausting. When the northies showed up, they were wired tight, but after a year spent up in MSP, I figured out why they complained. It wasn't because they thought they did things better, it was because they had come to expect consistency, good or bad.

Everything now is almost exactly the opposite.
