Yes, the company has improved a lot. To be specific, I would say the training department has improved more than the rest of the company has in many aspects. I went through initial in 2022, and there were a mix of good instructors and rotten apples that were in the training department. It seems like most, if not all, of the bad apples have left or were fired. With the exception of JC, although, I’ve heard that he’s changed but ONLY because the website went up.
When I went through upgrade training I heard the company was forced to have an honest, sit down conversation with the guy and gave him an ultimatum of some sorts. “Either you clean up your act, or you’re outta here. Can’t have this horrible look on us.” Don’t quote me on that, but an instructor said something to that effect. Based on hearing what other people have said who had JC for their checkrides, it sounds like he’s made a complete 180 turnaround. Which is good, but it’s unfortunate that it took a website to get the company to finally look into this guy.
I had an absolutely terrible instructor during sips who was similar to JC in his ways. Has a terrible reputation in the company. Thankfully, the company removed him from the training department and put him back on the line. This is great for students, but still really really sucks for FO’s who have to fly with him. That’s gotta be an extremely looonngg 4 day. I’d imagine a lot of people probably call sick when he’s on their schedule.
