That may be true, to be honest. We have a huge number of pilots who came straight from the Military, and Delta is their only airline experience. For good or bad, they’ve missed out on seeing behind the curtain of how airline management works - often deliberately against their pilot groups. That may contribute to what you’re referencing.
Still, I think I’d much prefer that over the toxicity that permeates through American, for example. Those guys are miserable. All of them. Or United’s forever lingering, bordering on bizarre fixation with scabs that has resulted in an unhealthy worship of ALPA.
As a mil guy, I think you’re underestimating the level of disdain many mil pilots had for their leadership teams when they were in. The majority of mil pilots are guys who did their min time and punched…and the vast majority saw behind the curtain at how they (the collective “they”) were treated by their leadership.
Spineless leadership, confusing decisions, undermining and questioning of pilots decisions…those aren’t exclusive to the airlines.
