Back when I actually paid for fuel, Delta had an average rate of $1.90 per gallon which falls right inline with your numbers. So, using your high end of $0.40/lbs, that means the OP was complaining about 200 lbs of fuel. That is within the margin of error of the FMS/fuel gauges.
