IAH worked for CO because it was the only option. There is a reason United is making a **** ton of money and IAH being under utilized isn’t dragging down profits. IAH has its place in the network but it will never be United’s mega hub that the entire world travels through.
IAH is too far from Asia and too far from Europe compared to LAX, SFO, ORD, EWR and IAD. Its closer to SA, but that's not nearly as large as Asia or Europe with travel demand and its not an optimal hub like DEN or ORD for connecting people domestically.
