Because you would need to load 5-6 more hours worth of fuel on any airplane thus crushing the profitability of pax and cargo vs flying it from the west coast. (Facepalm).

ORD is almost directly on the great circle path for OKC and points southwest to Europe. It's the most logical connection point unless going to one of the secondary European destinations only served out of EWR. And those destinations will always be only served out of EWR to maximize connecting traffic and/or stay within narrowbody range.

SFO is and will continue to be the premier US gateway to Asia. Its geographic positioning, O&D traffic, local GDP, high tech industry and UA's 60% market share are unbeatable. EWR is similar to Europe and UA is adept and managing their operational challenges.

One thing's for sure, this summer is going to suck. It took us an hour from gate hold release to push clearance today and we're not even close to peak in mid April.

Today should be interesting. Forecast is winds strong out of the out the south, gusting to 34 kts with both the 19s closed.

They opened 19L for the ILS for a bit today, but the arrival rate was reduced to 25 along with a couple of ground stops mixed in. 19R stayed closed. Now it's back to both 19s closed.

I'm quickly learning not to bid 1-days for the next 6 months...
