I've been at the airport before when the rerouted crew was also at the gate. Scheduling sent me home and let the reroute crew performed the flight. They can noop the flight for any reason but I found it mostly is because they weren't able to get a first officer in time or even flight attendants. All this worth 2 hours of suit up pay which is applied towards reserve guarantee. The only time it would benefit you is if you were over guarantee for the month and even then only 2 hours!

Anytime I've accepted a flight that reports in less than 2 hours, I am very concerned they might pull my flight. I even had one pulled as I was leaving the house, scheduling called and said they were giving it to a short call reserve. When I was back at home, scheduling calls again and says they couldn't get hold of the short call pilot and they wanted to know if I still wanted the trip. I asked what prevents you from pulling it from me again and the scheduler had the nerve to remind me that this was inverse assignment and it was not a proffer!

Don't forget this also applies to any out of base reserve awards. You could be jump seating to a different base and they may pull the trip from you. It could even result you being stranded the night and having to get a hotel on your own dime. Again, no rotation guarantee.
Yes, no rotation guarantee…but they can’t just pull a trip because they “found” a SC pilot. They cannot go back in steps of coverage without violating the contract. At least until an arbitrator compares coverage to maple syrup.
