America has been at war with itself for the last two decades. We’re less of a society and more a collection of independent contractors trying to make enough money to outrun all the problems that the boomers did nothing to try to solve and which we continue to not try to solve.

If you’re asking Americans to get together and face 5-6+ gallon gas with a brave face for the “greater good” it ain’t gonna happen.
