I dunno man, there's interesting dynamics all around the world of migrant workers who do those sorts of schedules and worse. That's what I would chalk this sort of thing up to. It's not something I'd ever want for myself, but millions of people do that sort of thing every day. I flew with a dude who met his (now) wife in China when he was working for another carrier. She is Filipino and was working as a house cleaner on an 11 month on / 1 month off schedule. They live in the equivalent of crashpads. It's not that much different than the lifestyle some FAs live.
