On one of my first WB trips, the captain went to a Subway for dinner. I’ve had captains go to McDonalds before. I know pilots that go to Denny’s instead of the hotel breakfast in HND to save $5. I don’t know why this is a generational argument.

I don’t see the appeal to go eat dinner and have drinks at 4am body clock time. To then get a crap nights sleep before another craps night sleep. So, most the time I just bail. I’d rather go on a cool hike. Sometimes, I never leave the room because I have other stuff to do. I’m probably weird.

As for tipping, I really don’t know why we do it. I’m pretty sure they are tipped via contract in their home currency. I do it, but it’s more bc everyone else is. I’ve recently learned that is some places it’s very hard to exchange US dollars unless they are in perfect condition. Not a dirty wadded up $1.
