I’ll just say it should be less common. There are a few contributing factors to the amount of section 18s we’ve had recently.
First is that under IBT trusteeship there hasn’t been anyone standing up for the pilots or defending the gains we made since the first contract. The company has tried…successfully in many instances to reinstitute past practices which the union had ended. So far the current eboard has been focused on the bridge deal (not that I fault them for it)and they have let the problems continue.
Secondly the company thinks were overstaffed, taken in combination with the size of the retention bonus it means every captain has a $250k target on their back. So if you aren’t completely squared away or raise your head too high you can expect someone to take a shot at you.
