Section 18s are not all that uncommon, but getting fired is SUPER RARE. I can only think of one pilot who was fired from this place and that pilot, imo, had it coming and certainly deserved it.

You’ll get called in for section 18 if you call out sick for 35% of your trips over a 90 day period, things like that. You get talked to, be apologetic, kiss some management a$$ and you’ll get a slap on the wrist.

it’s honestly absurd that people on here are talking like pilots are fired regularly. I challenge anybody on here to name more than one pilot who has been fired in the last 5 years. I can only think of one and that’s on good authority because the union takes pride in how few pilots have been fired. Job protection is the number one reason to have a union and the ibt are happy to brag how few pilots have been fired on their watch.
