Key Airlines that Bankrupted and Merged (Post-2000s):

• US Airways: Filed for bankruptcy twice (2002, 2004) before merging with America West in 2005, and later merging with American Airlines in 2013.
• Continental Airlines: Bankrupted twice (1983, 1990) before eventually merging with United Airlines in 2010.
• Northwest Airlines: Filed for bankruptcy in 2005 and merged with Delta Air Lines in 2008.
• AirTran Airways: Acquired by Southwest Airlines in 2011 following financial pressure.
• American Airlines (AMR Corporation): Filed for Chapter 11 in 2011 and merged with US Airways in 2013.
• United Airlines (UAL Corp): Filed for bankruptcy in 2002, emerging in 2006 before merging with Continental.

Now I understand United isn’t on that list oh wait……
