To which I think it's just worth reminding everyone that there are never any issues until there are incidents or accidents, or stated differently "it works until it doesn't". So just because there has been an absence of something, or a perceived absence of something I don't take that as a diagnostic of its integrity and not a very wise stance to take and we as safety professionals should have a proactive approach to prevention efforts.
To be fair.....Perhaps in the case of Mr.Lubitz while only being 27 and being incredibly low time (by US standards) to be flying an A320.....I'm not sure if inexperience played a part, at least aeronautically since he turned his knowledge of the Flight Guidance control panel into a deadly weapon and became a mass murderer. Rather I do feel that an older and more experienced airman...say that starved through the lost decade and spent 8 years a regional FO to make fast food wages.......might be a little more appreciative of their professional position in life and may not be so vulnerable to mental health issues. Just my opinion.
Right. But the missing Malaysian, Air India more recent and just as tragic. Can happen anywhere. Not the case at Sewark obviously.
