DL spent a decade to built an amazingly well oiled machine with the operation being the focus. Over the last decade cost has become a bigger focus over operational excellence. That tends to happen when leadership has mostly accounting/finance backgrounds. Look at our COO. The person in charge of running our operation is not someone with a background in the operation but in finance. I completely understand DL is a business and businesses exist to make money, but when the focus is on making money rather than delivering a product people will pay extra for, the business, over time, will not be successful.

RG and HT are in their jobs because controlling costs is a higher priority than running an excellent operation. As long as that is the direction of the board and they keep costs under target, I fear their jobs will be safe. HTs racketeering comment probably won favors with those in charge, as it was a slight against union labor.
