9e flights were shut down, not so much as to not fly "struck work" but because like 85-90 % of 9e passengers connected to NWA flights out of MEM. So if 9e continued to fly it would have just built up a log jam of passengers at the mem airport with nowhere to go. When it looked like Mesaba might strike a few years back, and I also think with the Comair strike, we were given an ALPA phone number to call to make sure the flights we were flying were not struck work. If the guy on the other end on the phone said it was a Mesaba/comair flight, our plane didnt move...
