Dude, I feel your pain. However, don't get all worked up over it. I can almost guarantee you that it isn't going to happen like you have been describing. It would be nice if it did, but the fact of the matter is it probably won't.

Big Daddy D wants to reduce capacity, and if by cancelling ExpressJet's contract, they can replace some of that lift with Skywest (the obvious choice) and just let the rest fall by the wayside, then that's what they will do.

If oil ever comes back down, we could see some growth. If the Freedom contract ever gets cancelled, we could see some growth. However, as of right now, all major US airlines are losing their shirts (except Southwest) and they are trimming the fat where ever they can. Unfortunately, the life, family, and mortgages of the line pilot are last on their list of prioities (if it's even on the list at all). Airline management sees labor as a liability and they do whatever they have to to limit that liablity. They see you and me as a number on a spreadsheet and not as a person with a family, house, bills to pay, and possibly kids to feed. It makes it easier for them to cut our jobs that way.

Good luck in your career. I really do hope to see you on property here at Comair when we start hiring and growing again.

One more thing. Be careful how you word things. This is a very trying time for the industry and lots of pilots are going to lose their jobs. I saw on another thread that "you hope Skywest gets the flying..."
This does nothing but create a hostile sentiment towards other pilot groups at a time when pilot groups need to stick together.
