SkyWest expects to train us but wants to wait and train us until they are confident they can keep us on without a furlough in the near future. Mainly they are fearing Delta and United to do some cuts in their flying. I believe they are being conservatie and wise. It sucked to get the call after I had already quit my job but understood and accepted their justification. We are all in a pool with no class date and no clue when or if we will be trained. My fear is this is exactly what Express Jet said to a friend of mine in their pool last year around Sept/Oct. He never made it to ground school and would have been furloughed even if he did. As solid as SkyWest is, they are not immune to the bad economy. Express Jet was thought to be solid last summer and everyone thought I was a fool for not applying when I met their minimums and held out for SkyWest. My hope is that SkyWest will prosper and have us in training by the end of the year. That is just me being an optimist and no information to back this up.
Keep being optimistic my friend. We will be in training someday soon. I'm sure of it. I think mngmnt is making good and sound decisions and I will wait for the cows to come home for a class date. Why would I want to go to another company that'll just put me on the street without giving a d*mn.
I believe the above mentioned companies are the safest excluding Delta. My squadron was filled with Delta pilots, now they have shifted to UPS and FedEx.
