Comair to lay off 106 at Orlando International
Orlando Business Journal
Delta Air Lines Inc. subsidiary
Comair has told the state it will lay off 106 employees at
Orlando International Airport in August and September as it closes most of its local operations as part of Delta's plan to combat high fuel prices.
Comair, part of Delta Connection along with
Chautauqua Airlines, will retain its maintenance base, but close down all customer service operations, which are being transferred to Delta, Comair said. Some of those affected by the layoffs are being offered relocation packages to other positions within Delta.
As with other airlines, Delta (NYSE: DAL) is being severely impacted by the high cost of fuel and it is reducing the number of Delta Connection flights at OIA from 58 to seven.
